Circuit Breakers Tripping?

A common electrical issues is dealing with tripping circuit breakers. This is usual a simple fix but can leave a whole room or house without power. A circuit breaker may trip when a surge of energy overloads a circuit.  This can be a lightning strike or a heavily stressed outlet using up too much current. The breaker then switches the circuit to the off position as a safeguard.

Fixing a tripped breaker is quite simple. First  make sure all the appliances and lights are switched off as the sudden power surge could damage them. Then find your electrical panel and search for the breaker that is switched to off and flip it to the on position. Lastly turn back on your appliances that were turned off.

If your breaker keeps tripping there could be a more serious electrical issue. A breaker may be tripping frequently because there is a short circuit where a hot wire is touching a neutral wire which can cause an overload of current which creates heat. The breaker then turns off automatically to prevent an electrical fire.  Another reason for a breaker tripping is an overloaded circuit when the breaker cannot handle all the amps that are coming through.  The last reason for a breaker constantly tripping is a ground fault which is when a hot wire and a bare ground wire are touching the metal box. This pushes more electricity through. This is also the cause for a burnt outlet.
